Fifty inmates falling victim to viral fever
More than 50 inmates at Saptari prison have been taken ill following the spread of viral fever inside the prison.
The number of inmates falling victim to the viral fever is on the rise since it began four days ago.
Those affected are suffering from fever along with vomiting and eye-itching, Acting Chief of the Prison, Bhagwat Yadav said.
So far, 52 inmates have been taken ill. The prison is currently home to 144 inmates.
The prison is finding hard to deal with such a large number of inmates falling sick at once, and has so communicated to the Department of Prison Management, District Public Health Office and the Chief District Officer for necessary assistance, Yadav said.
